Buying
Candy After Fall Holidays
Have you ever hit up stores for their
inevitable “after _____” sales? Perhaps it’s a holiday that left a company with
a lot of overstock in a particular item. Or maybe a seasonal shift caused an
abundance of winter gear or summer wear to need sold for big discounts. No
matter what it is, these types of sales can be seriously amazing if you know
where to look and when to go.
Since fall is a major American holiday, this
trend works for it just as well as any other season or holiday. In fact, for
all the kids in my life (ranging from my own to nephews and nieces and even my
partner’s kids at school), it just makes sense for me to hit up local stores
the first week of November to get huge savings on so much candy.
I’m sure people at these stores can’t help but
stare at me wondering if I have some sort of candy addiction, but it’s always
been worth it for how much candy I can get stashed away for months and months
on end. (And, you know, it’s funny grabbing literally 20 to 30 different candy boxes when I’m walking down the aisle, just aimlessly throwing them in my
cart!)
To be honest, I’m sure buying this much candy
doesn’t do my kids any favors, but I’m pretty cautious about letting them have
some often. In fact, I only allow them to choose a candy about once or twice a
week depending on the circumstances, which gets them in the habit of not
expecting too much in the first place. It’s always better to teach moderation
than to reward certain behaviors with unhealthy things like candy or more
screen time on a smart phone or tablet. But I realize that’s just my opinion on
the child rearing matter.
Anyway, I implore you to go out and check out
the after holiday candy deals. You’ll have all sorts of things, ranging from
jawbreakers to classic candy boxes and bags of suckers. And if anything, it’ll
save you cash down the road or even for next fall holiday! It’s never too early
to start planning ahead, right?
From this, you should learn to hit up stores
after other major holidays and seasons to get their after holiday sales. From
clothes to candy to decorations, you’ll be saving a lot throughout the year if
you make your shopping trips count and time them perfectly.
